It only happens on this one monitor, switching the monitor to something else and Windows detects the correct resolution. Switching the monitor to a different PC and it detects the correct resolution. Though adjusting the values in here to my desired ones and rebooting just restores it back to how it was. It seems to me that the monitor is giving out the wrong EDID information.

Have you tried to contact the manufacturer? Hit a snag, running it remotely on a test machine via PDQ throws back the error of “the graphics mode is not supported”, yet running the same batch file manually on the machine works. Got it working in the end. I’ve got a powershell file, which creates a task schedule which runs a batch file. The batch file copies the relevant files across, wait a few seconds then runs the command to change the resolution.

I recently took over an IT admin position, and the previous tech had problems with users accidentally changing the monitor settings on a boardroom laptop that has a TV connected to it. In order to stop this he supposedly edited the registry to make it so none of he display settings are changeable for any user. Its currently locked to extend the displays. I have no idea what key could have been changed to do this. I looked around but nothing jumped out at me. There is no group policy set to do this either.

Nothing in these seemed to change this. Maybe its actually a registry key for within the settings app in particular? I’ll do some googling to see if I can find anything.
